Good picks — lot of safe choices (for all the right reasons) and a couple of things I haven't heard (and Kamikazi specifically from that Pub record is a perf deep cut). Would have repped Vladislav Delay more prominently, thrown something from Andy Stott up and highlighted the eternally awesome and underheralded Dreamtime Submersible by Evan Marc and Steve Hillage, but you really can't go wrong with this genre
Thank you! Good that you bring it up. While I love Brian's work in general, especially the Huerco S. and Pendant records, I'm not particularly fond of that one. And then also, though far from a genre purist, I can't really think of One Day as a dub techno album – it lives much more in that microhouse vein to me.
Yeah I read that one, and partly agreed with it. In general it felt like a much-needed contrarian take, which spoke to my inner music snob.
Just this part: "Did we get into electronic music for restraint? Really?" Well, yes. Maybe not "we", but I certainly did. That's because I never was a club person. And I always liked subtlety and elegance in art, that's why I never really felt drawn to what you call maximalism here.
Thank you for this one. It has also long been a go-to genre for me. Exactly enough energy to keep me focused, but textured in a way that it augments my focus rather than demands it relentlessly.

I never heard of this Pub record - thanks for the tip!
excellent selection! And, for me, no Loidis is a smart move.

(And yes, I do realize that last argument would totally work for the Jelinek album too. Oh well.)
I really don't like the Loidis album, it's just far too polite..... I actually wrote about it a while ago: https://linenoise.substack.com/p/for-loidis-sake-let-2025-be-maximal

I mean, I do like subtlety and elegance! Just for the record!
top choices stephan, all times favs every one
Perfect timing for the train ride to Berlin tomorrow.

Exactly. It's a sweet spot difficult to achieve, and dub techno has cracked that code.
