It’s been over three years since I quit my corporate job in big tech, bought an old farmhouse and moved from Berlin to the countryside.
The house has no insulation, no central heating and no running warm water. It’s located in a tiny village in Northeastern Germany, an area called Western Pomerania, one of the least populated and most neglected parts of the country. The next supermarket is a half-hour drive away.
Off-grid life is definitely not for everyone, especially in the cold season. The summers are glorious though – I wouldn’t want to trade them for anything else. After spending the last winter mostly in the city, we’ve now been back out here for six weeks.
In the article below, I’m outlining my simple daily routine. It’s nothing special or extraordinary, but it’s my life and it does feel quite personal, so this is just for my community of paid subscribers.
Everyone else – see you in a few days with the next music story!
