Leaving city life behind didn't seem possible, until it did
A year ago, my wife and I moved to an old farmhouse in a remote village.
Now this just wouldn’t have been possible a decade ago – but the pandemic changed everything.
We’d both spend the majority of our adult lives in cities, but n the second half of the 2010s, we had both become interested in what is often lumped in under the umbrella term of “alternative lifestyles”.
That means we read and watched loads of things on topics like off-grid living, self-sufficiency, permaculture gardening, and DIY craftsmanship.
Soon we wanted to put all of this into practice, but we still lived in the city, and I had a 9-to-5 office job at a tech company. Home office wasn’t an actual thing yet.
