Vespertine is in my all time 20. It stands completely alone as something groundbreaking and unique. We’re aligned on the list but mmm, I might have had Medulla, which contains my all time favourite Bjork song “Desired Constellation”.

Interesting! Medulla might be my least fav Björk album, though I still like it. By the way, this is not meant as a ranked list. My all-time fav changes all the time, but right now I would probably land at Vespertine too.

"Please note that it makes sense to take in Björk’s albums as full bodies of work, one at a time, and really dive into the worlds she conjures by collaging sounds and instruments, beats and vocals, poetry and visuals. Single songs or “Greatest Hits” type playlists will always just represent small excerpts from those extensive galaxies" - so true!

Thumbs up from another superrfan! I really enjoyed this overview and look forward to the next one. Many of your favourites tracks are mine too. This also inspires me to finish a post I've had in draft for too long on 'Virus'/Biophilia.

PS I actually wrote about The Sugarcubes best dance remixes, if anyone is interested. It’s-It: The Sugarcubes’ sweetest treat or how Björk re-invented herself in dance: https://linenoise.substack.com/p/its-it-the-sugarcubes-sweetest-treat

Rumour has it that the "club toilet" part of “There’s More To Life Than This” was actually recorded in a club toilet, perhaps the Milk Bar??? Whether true or not, I want to believe it.

Yup, heard that too and that would of course make sense! I have yet to find confirmation though.
