Purchased Seeing Is Forgetting as a result of this. Already had my first night ride on my bike with it, which I had imagined would be an excellent way to absorb it. And it was.
Stephan, this is a masterclass in curation. The attention to detail in selecting these artists shows deep knowledge of the ambient electronic spectrum. Especially appreciated the inclusion of Deadbeat and the Japanese producers - that texturality and minimalism is what keeps me engaged with ambient music beyond just productivity soundtracking.
This is great, Stephan! I absolutely love ambient music 🥰 even at festivals, I always end up chilling at the Ambient stages.
By the way, I cancelled my Spotify subscription about two months ago and moved all my playlists over to YouTube Music since I was already paying for YouTube Premium. But honestly, lately I’ve been obsessed with NTS Radio. I hardly listen to my Playlists anymore; I just explore different shows on NTS and I’m really loving it. I was curious, what do you think of NTS? Are you into it?
Also, I’m in London now for the next six months, so let me know if you’re ever in town! I’ve already got tickets to a few concerts and I’m loving all the choices here.
I really liked NTS and listened a lot a couple of years ago (pre-COVID and going into the pandemic) but some of my favorite shows have dropped off the schedule. Also I wasn't super happy about UMG buying a major stock in the station tbh, but so far it doesn't seem to have affected the programming in any negative way. It's probably still great but I haven't been using it as much as I used to. My main listening mode is full albums.
Re: London, I'm going to send you a DM! Hope you're having a blast over there.
Huge thanks Stephan for sharing Ray’s article! That’ll mean a lot to him, I’ve no doubt. And thanks for surprise inclusion of Clariloops’ album - which drops this Saturday!
On the rest of your list, my vinyl copy of Fables arrived today, and the Deadbeat album has been on heavy rotation over here
Immaculate curation, randomly discovered you on the substack feed, but in love with all your picks across ambient , vaporwave and dub techno
Thank you for your kind words! Happy you've found some good music here and hoping you'll find more.
Thanks, some excellent recommendations. This was a recent discovery I enjoyed:

Sounds like the perfect way indeed!

Autechre Guitar is so good!
bought that on CD immediately
It truly is. My inner contrarian almost made me ignore it after reading one too many excited reviews but it's really that good.
Your writing and coverage is a treasure. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Thank you for your kind words, David! Glad you’re enjoying it.
thanks for including qd45 deadbeat! and the kind words :) x
